Manager Security and Quality

Odfjell Ship Management manages and supervises around 40 vessels and is fully integrated with fleet management, HSSEQ, crewing, and technical support functions.

We are now seeking a Manager Security and Quality to strengthen our HSSEQ team in Bergen.

As Manager Security and Quality, you will play a key role in maintaining and developing our security and quality management systems. The position combines operational follow‑up, analytical work, and coordination across departments and with the fleet. You will work closely with colleagues ashore and at sea and contribute to continuous improvement of our HSSEQ performance.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITES 

  • Follow up and support allocated personnel within own area of responsibility
  • Responsible for the Ship Security Plan and act as Deputy Company Security Officer (CSO)
  • Coordinate and follow up on incident investigations
  • Coordinate and follow up on TMSA Audits
  • Prepare contingency plans and coordinate contingency drills
  • Manage ERMT training, rosters, and related office coordination
  • Prepare ISM audit plans, analyze internal and external audit results and establish focus areas
  • Analyze PSC data and establish focus areas
  • Analyze CDI & SIRE data and establish focus areas
  • Maintain and update relevant SMS procedures within own area of responsibility
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of HSSEQ processes and safety culture

  

REQUIRED QALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant higher education or maritime qualification, combined with relevant experience
  • Experience from ship management or similar HSSEQ roles within the shipping industry
  • Good understanding of the ISM Code and the ISPS Code
  • Proficiency in English, written and spoken
  • Comfortable using standard digital tools and management systems
  • Authorization to live and work in Norway

 Personal competencies:

  • Positive attitude and ability to cooperate with different cultures and teams
  • Good leadership skills and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Structured and analytical

 

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED EXPERIENCE (an advantage, but not a requirement) 

  • Onboard experience from chemical tankers
  • Experience with maritime emergency response management
  • Good understanding of maritime insurance and claims handling
